London Shades
Constructing London Shades, I have recycled a map of London and the Thames from the Estuary to the City. Embedded in the tessellations are recycled envelopes with their internal faces in subtle patterns and shades of blue, and light coloured recycled papers to emphasise the sparseness of population in the east. In contrast, I have recycled architectural magazines with details of buildings to reflect the density of urban habitat around the City of London.
