Appliqués

I refer to these collages as ‘appliqués’. The process of hand-cutting colourful papers and pasting them reminds me of textile works made up by cutting and stitching together pieces of fabric.

I enjoy the process of observing ordinary house-hold objects- jugs, bottles, paint tubes, and interpreting them in bold colours and forms. Whilst there is absence of subtle tones, the collages retain the three-dimensional quality of the studied objects.
