Geometry in Silver is a three-dimensional tessellated collage. It is inspired and also pays homage to Sheffield’s industrial heritage as a city of steel and silversmiths. It is an industry that developed from natural resources wrought from Sheffield’s hills.  In this sense, Sheffield’s geology has affected its human geography. In this artwork I have tessellated two maps of the city and its environs- a historic map of Sheffield’s streets and through that the colourful geological map of the same scale is made visible. The work thus expresses Sheffield both above and below ground.

The artwork is mounted on silver/grey archival board and framed in grey stained wood box frame.
